Amid churn ongoing in the society surrounding modern lifestyle, the Allahabad High Court has observed that live-in relationships cannot provide security, social acceptance, progress and stability what the institution of marriage provides.
The court at the time was hearing bail plea of someone accused of raping his long time live-in partner. Justice Siddharth observed that breakups do take place between the couples in such cases and after a breakup, the females find it difficult to face the society.
Live-in relationship can only be considered as normal after the institution of marriage becomes obsolete in the society, it was said.
