After presenting her credentials to the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, the new Norwegian Ambassador, May-Elin Stener, highlighted the Indian diversity and noted that bilateral relations between the two countries is increasing.
“India is a very diverse country indeed…Norway has 5.5 million inhabitants and India has 250 times more…Although, I think that a lot of Indians have been coming to Norway so it is also becoming more diverse…We are moving towards each other”, she said talking to ANI.
“We were one of the first countries to recognise India as an independent country…We are working towards development goals, towards greener solutions and saving climate. I think that we can work together on a lot of issues.”, she added.
The deepening of relations between India and many European countries comes at a time when world needs to diversify and derisk the supply chains, right now heavily concentrated in China. There is also threat of long drawn tensions spiraling out of Ukraine into other parts of Europe since Russia could not be defeated in all this time despite formidable NATO alliance backing Ukraine with weapons and money.
