Onam, a big traditional harvest festival is celebrated in a massive way in Kerala. The state capital this year is celebrating the Hindu festival with traditional gaiety with theme ‘Onam, Oru Eenam’. All of the Kerala cities are decorated for the big occasion.
The harvest festival of Onam began on Aug 20 and is to continue till Aug 31. On Aug 29, is the Thiruvonam Nakshatram, which is considered the main day of the festival.

The festival also symbolizes King Mahabali’s annual return with reverence towards deity Vishnu’s Vamana avatar. Devotees today participated in the rituals for Onam, being performed at Thrikkakkara Vamana Moorthy Temple in Kochi.
Onam, like all Hindu holidays, is thus open to people of all backgrounds who wish to participate. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan extended their greetings on Onam festival.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin too extended his heartfelt wishes on the occasion.
