Delhi Court rules, in case of Rahul Gandhi’s passport

In a breather for Rahul Gandhi, Delhi court has granted a No Objection Certificate for issuance of fresh passport. The court said that NOC will be valid for three years even as Rahul Gandhi had prayed that the same be granted for ten years.

Rahul Gandhi had surrendered his diplomatic passport after he was disqualified from membership post conviction from Surat court.

The application was moved by Gandhi in the National Herald case filed by former MP Subramanian Swamy against him. He and his mother Sonia Gandhi were granted bail in the case in December 2015. The court, however, had not put any condition regarding travel on him.

Swamy opposed the application and contended that Gandhi had no valid or effective reason for the passport to be issued to him for 10 years. He added that NOC for issuance of passport mat be given for not more than 1 year and that the same may be reviewed annually.
