Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel would be visiting Bastar to pay tributes to the party leaders and security personnel killed in Jhiram Ghati massacre back in year 2013.
It is May 25 of 2023 and ten years ago, it was the kind of naxal violence unheard before as this time it was the political leadership of the Congress party that was being targeted.
To commemorate the leaders who died due to unleashing of naxal violence, a Jhiram Memorial has been instituted in Lal Bagh Maidan of Jagdalpur.
Senior state level Congress leaders including Mahendra Karma aka Bastar Tiger, Nand Kumar Patel, the then state Congress chief and Vidya Charan Shukla, party veteran, all suffered or died in the worst naxal violence that took place in decades.
It is learnt that CM Bhupesh Baghel would be paying his tributes alongside other party leaders at the Jhiram Ghati Memorial by 1 pm.
It is learnt that among other prominent engagements, CM Bhupesh Baghel is to unveil of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahatari’ (state of Chhattisgarh visualised as motherly figure) at the Collectorate premises and hold crucial meeting with party leaders for the election ahead.
