11-foot-long King Cobra rescued, from Odisha home, video goes viral
A dramatic rescue operation unfolded on Tuesday morning in Odisha, where an 11-foot-long King Cobra was safely extracted from a house and released into the Dukra Wildlife Range. The massive snake, which measured 11 feet and weighed 6.7 kilograms, had slithered into a residence in Bangra village, Mayurbhanj district, while pursuing a monitor lizard, according to the homeowner.
Srikanta Mohanty, Range Officer of the Pithabata Range in the Baripada Forest Division, detailed that the rescue operation was initiated after a call around 6:30 pm the previous day. A team of experienced snake rescuers promptly responded to the situation. After a thorough examination by a local veterinarian, the King Cobra was successfully released into its natural habitat. A video of the rescue shows the careful handling of the massive snake by the rescuers.
